What Beyond Chance Explores

Where Did the Universe Come From? How Did Life Begin? Did Jesus Truly Rise from the Dead?

From the birth of the universe to the rise of life, from the mystery of human uniqueness to the empty tomb of Jesus, the evidence tells a story—one that challenges the idea that everything is the result of blind chance and instead reveals the radiant majesty of its Creator.

In Beyond Chance, scientist and former atheist Steve Osborne, PhD, invites readers to examine the clues woven into reality itself. Why did the universe begin at all? Why are the laws of physics so precisely tuned for life? How did the first living cell arise with astonishing complexity already in place? And why does the historical evidence for Jesus’ resurrection refuse to fade?

Drawing from cosmology, molecular biology, human origins, and history, Osborne presents a clear case that design—not accident—best explains life, humanity, reason, and meaning. Beyond Chancechallenges the claim that science has made God unnecessary in explaining the universe’s greatest mysteries. On the contrary, science does not erase God, it reveals Him

Meet the Author

Former Atheist. Trained Scientist. A Thoughtful Voice for Faith and Reason.

For nearly thirty years, Steve Osborne was an atheist who believed Christianity was a refuge for people unwilling—or unable—to think critically.

That confidence began to crack when Steve was challenged to examine the evidence he had long dismissed.

“I was stunned,” Steve recalls. “Most of my objections to Christianity weren’t rooted in evidenceat all, but in false assumptions I had never questioned. As I seriously examined the case for

Christianity, those objections fell away. What followed was not just an intellectual shift, but aprofound spiritual struggle. Overwhelmed by the evidence, I eventually surrendered my heart to Christ. That was a long time ago.”

The ideas behind Beyond Chance took shape over decades. The book was not born from a momentary conversion, but from years of reflection at the intersection of science, reason, and faith. Steve’s goal in writing Beyond Chance is not merely to argue that God exists, but to show that the world itself bears witness to His presence and majesty—and that faith and true science are not enemies, but natural companions.

Today, Steve lives in Northern California, where he enjoys family life, the outdoors, writing, and helping others think clearly about life’s biggest questions.

His mission is simple: to show that faith is not the end of thinking—but the beginning of deeper understanding.

WHY THIS BOOK MATTERS

What if Your Assumptions are wrong?

“All my arguments against Christianity were based on false assumptions and incorrect information.”

Steve believed science disproved God.

He didn’t change his mind because he stopped being a scientist.

He changed his mind because he finally let the evidence speak.

This book is for:

✓ Christians who love their faith but want confidence that it stands up to science

✓ Parents navigating big questions about evolution, biology, and belief with their children

✓ Skeptics open to honestly examining whether the universe is really an accident

✓ Seekers who sense meaning and purpose behind existence, but aren’t sure where it leads

✓ Former believers who walked away because faith seemed disconnected from reason

If you’ve ever wondered whether belief in God is intellectually reasonable, Beyond Chance meets you where you are—with evidence, careful reasoning, and hope.

FOR SKEPTICS WHO WANT HONEST ANSWERS

“True faith is not the absence of evidence—it’s the courage to follow it.”

Steve Osborne spent nearly thirty years as an unbeliever. He understands the skepticism. He knows what it’s like to assume Christianity is for people who stop asking hard questions—or who fear where honest inquiry might lead.

He also understands why many believe science has already settled the question of God.

Beyond Chance does not begin with Scripture or sermons. It begins with the universe itself. Why does anything exist at all? Why are the laws of nature so precisely ordered? How did life emerge with such astonishing complexity?

Why do human consciousness, moral awareness, and purpose resist reduction to chemistry alone? And why does the historical case for Jesus’ resurrection continue to demand serious attention?

This book does not ask you to abandon skepticism. It asks you to apply it consistently—to chance, to naturalism, and to the claims of faith.

Beyond Chance engages objections honestly, follows the evidence wherever it leads, and invites readers to consider whether the world itself points beyond accident to meaning.

If you’re genuinely curious whether belief in God is intellectually reasonable, this book is written for you.
